What….

Fluid Art (acrylic pouring) ~ Kintsugi (mending broken pottery/ceramics with gold lacquer) ~ forest bathing ~ crystal bowl sound bath ~ guided sound meditations ~ an evening campfire ~ nourishing food ~ authentic connections.

Why….

This retreat offers you a valuable opportunity to step away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and truly connect with your inner self, those around you, and the rejuvenating essence of Gambier Island. Weather permitting, you can also enjoy some soothing paddling on Halkett Bay. Delve into self-discovery through the immersive experiences of fluid art, Kintsugi, the soothing sounds of crystal bowls, and using your own voice.

The Art of Kintsugi
’kin’ = golden, ‘tsugi’ = repair

Kintsugi pottery is a traditional Japanese art form that involves repairing broken pieces using a special technique that incorporates gold lacquer. This practice not only restores the object but also honors its damage and survival by highlighting the mended seams. As a metaphor of the human experience, when we mend ‘with gold’, we not only become stronger and more valuable but also exude a sense of dignity and beauty that comes from our unique journey of transformation and resilience.

Community Engagement Director

“In my experience, to journey through life from the spacious silence within us not only gives us the strength and clarity to manage all of life’s challenges, it also brings the connection, transformation, creativity and freedom we are all seeking. Breath, and our own sound can take us immediately to that sacred stillness within.”   - Neerava
