Fircom's COVID-19 Notice #3
Dear Friends of Fircom,
We hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy, and that you are being gentle with yourself and others during this unprecedented and difficult time. Our team morale here at camp remains high and we think of you often as we continue to prepare our site and facilities for the season. When our local and provincial health authorities give approval for us to gather together in community, we will be ready to welcome you all to camp!
While we remain both hopeful and optimistic that we will be able to operate this summer, we also realize that we need to be realistic about the fact that the situation regarding COVID-19 is still changing day by day. Based on the most recent information shared by our local and provincial health authorities, as well as Health Canada, we have made the safe and responsible decision to extend the suspension of our operations until May 31, 2020. In mid-May, we will reassess our ability to operate in June, and in mid-June, we will reassess our ability to operate our camp programs, as well as host rental groups and weddings, during July and August.
In the meantime, we are exploring a variety of ways to keep our community connected and the spirit of Camp Fircom alive. Yesterday, we hosted our first-ever Virtual Campfire (Campfire? We LOVE Campfires! Uh! Yeah, we do!!!) and it was a huge success! We will be leading more Virtual Fire Burning Ceremonies over the coming weeks with our sister camp, Camp Pringle (also a United Church camp). Stay tuned for more information about upcoming events and community-engagement initiatives that will be announced in our newsletters and on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
In the spirit of positivity, we want you to know that we very much look forward to welcoming you to our magical site, whether it be in the summer, the fall, or sometime in 2021!
With warm wishes for hope, love and togetherness,
The Camp Fircom Leadership Team & Board of Directors
