Board of Directors - Recruitment
Fircom’s Annual General Meeting will take place on April 10th, 2024, and we are looking for skilled and compassionate people to join our Board.
As a member of the Board of Directors, you will have the opportunity to be part of strategic planning, decision-making, and contribute with your skills, expertise, and lived experience to advance our mission.
We are specifically looking for individuals that have expertise in the three following areas:
Finance: Position Description
Our Treasurer is finishing his term in April, and it is critical to have a Treasurer with a strong financial background and expertise. The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the financial situation of the organization, ensure transparency, compliance, and fiscal stability, including working closely with the ED to maintain a balanced budget. The Treasurer will ideally have an accounting designation and current knowledge of accounting practices.
Human Resources: Position Description
This position will oversee, along with the HR committee, the organization’s human capital, helping ensure it runs in compliance with laws and regulations and that it does so ethically. The position will provide support to the ED in promoting a positive working environment. The applicant ideally will have experience in employee relations, HR policy development, performance management, benefits administration, and DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion).
Fundraising: Positition Description
This position will be instrumental in supporting the efforts related to securing the financial support to sustain and expand Fircom’s operations. The position will provide guidance to the community engagement staff to develop and implement fundraising strategies. The applicant ideally will have experience in donor cultivation, grant writing, capital campaigns, and alumni engagement.
Engaging as a volunteer Board member for a non-profit requires a time commitment that can vary from 5 to 10 hours per month, depending on the position and the season of the year. The duration of the term is for 2 years, and multiple term commitments are always appreciated. We welcome and encourage applications from women, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities, First Nations, Inuit, and Metis people, people of all sexual orientation and genders, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of our Board of Directors.
