2021 AGM & Call for Board Members

Each year the Camp Fircom Society holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM) at which society members may hear what’s been going on at Fircom in the past year and vote on the Board of Directors and the financial statements.
 
This year’s AGM will be on March 11, 2021 at 7:00pm. As we did last year, we will be holding the meeting via Zoom. Everyone is welcome to attend; however, only members who have held membership for at least 3 months will be eligible to vote. (If you became a member at last year’s AGM, your membership is still valid).
 
The Camp Fircom Board of Directors consists of 10 Directors, who are each elected by the members of the society for a term of 2 years’ service on the board. In 2021, there are 5 Directors whose terms are ending and are thus either stepping down or standing as a candidate to be elected to another 2-year term on the Board.
 
Anyone who is interested in service, either on the Board or as a member of one of the committees of the Board, is welcome to apply to the Nominating Committee. Please express your interest, outlining your connection and history with Camp Fircom and/or with The United Church of Canada, as well as the skills you have to offer that would be of benefit to the Camp Fircom Society. We are striving to increase the diversity of representation on the Board, hoping it will reflect our camper and rental group clients and our community. As such, we encourage participation from those who represent Indigenous groups, racialized groups, marginalized groups and the LGBTQIA2S+ community. We also strive to diversify the skills and strengths of the Board, looking for Directors with specific expertise in human resources, property management, fundraising, marketing, and strategic planning, among other talents.
 
An ‘Expression of Interest’ letter should be emailed to boardchair@fircom.ca. The deadline to submit ‘Expression of Interest’ letters is Friday, February 26, 2021 at 4:00pm.
