Letting the little ones try camp!
Scamper Camp is the perfect trial run for little kids to experience sleep-away camp. For three days and two nights, your child will tap into their creativity, get active, foster independence, make new life-long friends and discover the wonder of the outdoors in a safe, supervised and fun environment. It’s the training wheels for full-blown summer camp, a 120-year tradition in Canada! Our age-specific programming and trained staff support your little one by giving them opportunities for success, which leads to self confidence. When your little one can confidently spend two nights away from home, they are set up for independence for the rest of their life.
When: Session 1: Sunday to Tuesday, July 23-25, 2017
Session 2: Wednesday to Friday, July 26-28, 2017
Ages: 5 to 7 years
Cost: $250 + GST
From the get-go, your scamper will be safe, supported and having age-specific fun! Our goal is to help your scamper transition from parent-supported adventure to independent, confident and thoughtful adventure.
Scampers will enjoy modified program rotations (just 45 minutes compared to the standard 1-2 hours for kids camp) and modified elements such as closer targets and smaller bows in archery. Other activities include scavenger hunt, baking cookies, songs, waterfront play and swimming, arts and crafts.
Scampers will also be offered healthy snacks more frequently and more “BOB” rest time (“Bodies on Bunks”) to rest and recharge. For kids who prefer not to nap during this time, we’ll have quiet story time and quite craft time in the shade.
Scampers are also integrated with big kids camp! They will share meal times, morning circle programming and evening vespers with campers ages 7-13. Since scampers retire to bed earlier than the ‘big kids’, they will also have their own special campfire each night.
Every scamper gets a scamper-sized Camp Fircom t-shirt!
Once you are registered, you will be emailed an Information Package that has boat times, packing lists, and lots of other handy information. If you have more questions now please read our Summer Camp FAQ page or call our office at 604-662-7756
