While this program builds on the foundational work of Polaris Jr. , Polaris Sr. is open to all 15-16 year olds with an interest in pushing the development of their leadership skills.
Polaris Sr. is a week-long advanced leadership training program, where you will spend extensive time participating in team and individual skills workshops designed to develop and hone your leadership skills. You will also be participating in traditional fun camp programming, including a night hike and camp out in Halkett Bay Provincial Park.
Activities ranging from, but not limited to: Kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, archery, camp craft, edible wilds, leadership challenge initiatives, canoeing, hiking, improv games and more!
This program aims to engage those in their early teen years in a mix of fun camp activities and activities that introduce them to the idea of stepping up and becoming strong leaders in their community. Polaris Senior also acts as an advanced camper experience. It can be completed on it’s own or can be part of a graduated program aiming to train future staff of the camp. Those who complete Polaris Senior, Polaris Outdoors and the CIT program can then move on to be a camp counsellor for kids camp or a Polaris expedition leader once they turn 17.
The Polaris program is supported by the Vera Radcliffe Thompson Youth Legacy Fund, a fund of Dunbar Ryerson United Church.
