Polaris Jr. is a week of introductory leadership training where you will spend extensive time participating in team and individual skills workshops. You will also be participating in traditional fun camp programming, including a night hike and camp out in Halkett Bay Provincial Park.
Everything from: Kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, archery, outdoor living, leadership challenge initiatives, canoeing, hiking, improv games and more!
The program aims to engage those in their early teen years in a mix of fun camp activities they love, and activities that introduce them to the idea of stepping up and becoming strong leaders in their community. Polaris Junior also acts as a senior camper experience. It can be completed on it’s own or can be part of a graduated program aiming to train future staff of the camp. Those who complete Polaris Junior, Polaris Outdoors and the CIT program can then move on to be a camp counsellor for kids camp or a Polaris expedition leader once they turn 17.
The Polaris program is supported by the Vera Radcliffe Thompson Youth Legacy Fund, a fund of Dunbar Ryerson United Church.
