PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Moms & Kids Camp is all about balance! A week at Camp Fircom gives moms (and aunts & grandmas!!!) an opportunity to both connect with their children in a magical, natural setting and take some time for themselves to slow down and 'smell the cedar trees.'

In the mornings, moms will have an opportunity to engage in 'Moms Only' activities (i.e. yoga, guided meditation, garden sessions, kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, photography, painting, spiritual exploration, nature journaling, archery, etc.) while their children participate in developmentally appropriate activities with their caring, highly trained Camp Counselors.  In the afternoons, Camp Counselors will offer a number of family -friendly programming options and there will also be ample free time for moms and kids to explore the camp and participate in waterfront activities.

Each evening, there will be family-friendly programming offered, including activities like cooperative games, crafts, a talent show, campfire sing-a-longs, and vespers.  Once the kids are in bed, child-minding will be offered by our Camp Counselors so that moms can participate in some special evening programming such as drumming, walking the labyrinth, candlelight yoga, dessert on the dock, an evening paddle, and more.

There are several accommodation options for this week of camp:

Accommodation

Description

Advantages

Disadvantages

 Craigcroft

Craigcroft is a two story dormitory style building. Each room has a bunk bed and a single bed.

Craigcroft has bathrooms in the building. The rooms in Craigcroft give you a little extra privacy.

Craigcroft gets loud when it's full and can be quite hot in the summer. The bathrooms are great to have in the middle of the night however you will likely end up using the communal bathrooms a lot of the time as two bathrooms is not enough for everyone.

 Cottage

Six bedroom house incl. kitchen, three bathrooms, dining/livingroom. Five of the bedrooms have two twin beds, one has one queensize bed.

The Cottage has three full bathrooms in the building. The rooms will give you a little extra privacy.  The Cottage is a bit further situated from main camp than the other buildings. This means the walks from/to the dining hall and the waterfront area take a bit longer (take this into consideration with your little ones).

 Cabins

There are six cabins at Fircom. Each one has eight or nine bunk beds. During Mom & Kids week we house 3 or 4 families in this space. Cabins one and two have a small side room that is curtained off for extra privacy.

Cabins are the true camp experience! They are quite spacious with only 3 or 4 families. This option is the best if you are coming with friends and would like to share!

There are no washrooms in the cabins. It is a short walk to the washrooms in Lower Jubilee. This is shared accommodation with an open floor plan. There is not as much privacy as you would have in Craigcroft.

 Teepees

There are four teepees in the teepee village. They have wooden floors and sleeping mats. Each teepee houses one family. The closest washrooms are a short walk away in the Dining Hall.

The teepees offer more privacy than the Cabins and are great for a larger family looking for a more rustic experience.

The teepees are more open-air than any other accommodation. This means that there can be bugs.

*There is a kitchen in Craigcroft. If you are concerned about having access to a kitchen/refrigeration please let us know. There are lots of options available.

If you would like to know more about our accommodation options there is lots of info on our accommodation page. Check it out HERE.
