On September 22nd Camp Fircom will be unveiling a welcome pole. The pole was commissioned by the BC Conference of the United Church and carved by Richard (Richie) Baker of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation.

The welcome pole will now stand at the entrance to the camp and the island, welcoming visitors, and acting as an acknowledgment of the rich and complex history of the indigenous peoples on Gambier Island (Chá7elkwnech).

Due to water taxi capacities, this event is currently invite-only. If you are interested in attending, please email to have your name added to the wait list.
